Our Project
The interest and curiosity about cryptocurrency is increasing at a rapid pace and there are many more novices trying to learn more. However, lack of detailed aggregated information about what crypto is, its specific use cases and where to buy them make it difficult for a beginner to start investing.
For this reason, we decided to CryptoHacks which has information about all facets of crypto in one place. CryptoHacks' clean UI design makes it easy for anyone to navigate and quickly learn about crypto.
To build out project, we used an online IDE called Replit. It allowed the both of us to easily edit, run, and make adjustments to the web app at the same time as well as work asynchronously on the same project. This was especially helpful as one of us was from the PST time zone and the other was from the EST time zone.
At times, the website's layout wasn't working or some functionalities wouldn't work. Sometimes the pages were linking correctly and we had to go back and fix it. It was a very back and forth process to see what works well with our website, what doesn't, and what we wanted to add in order to make it better.
We are both very proud of the columns with the purple box shadows that pop out a bit once you hover over them. We are also proud of the items we embedded onto our page as it took some time to understand how to make it show up the way we wanted it to. We are also both proud of the color scheme we chose as we feel it depict the retro Miami vibe as well as its overall look. Because this out first proper project, we think we did a great job given our time constraints.
Prasi, who is more of a backend developer, learned different CSS features such as the :hover functionality and how to modify the different elements in CSS(adding color, changing font size, embedding a live Cryptotracker.) Samiksha learned how to create and develop a webpage with different sections such as a header, a footer, a main content page, adding an embedded twitter page, etc. She also learned how to create columns and center them at the middle of the page. Through the workshops we both got to learn more about Figma, Azure, GitHub (how to create repositories), Additionally, while researching our project content, we got exposed to more concepts regarding crypto.
We believe that CryptoHacks has the potential to spread more information through more interactive pages of information which will make learning about crypto easy and exciting. It could even be turned into a mobile app making it even more user friendly.
