Inspiration

In this era of decentralization, cryptocurrency is reaching new heights due to which, people (especially traders) are searching for different types of cryptocurrency updates on the internet every day, but it takes too much time and effort to collect updates about Top Cryptocurrencies in a single search, which made us inspired to build Crypto Updates Tracker Bot

What it does

Crypto Updates Tracker Bot is a Telegram bot that is developed to inform the user about important updates regarding the Topmost Cryptocurrencies. It updates the user about the Price of the Cryptocurrencies, the percentage of Hour Change and Day Change of the Cryptocurrencies, Open Day Price, High and Low Prices in 24 hours.

How we built it

For developing this bot, at first, we generated the API token with the help of BotFather bot and implemented it in our python code, after that we integrated crypto compare API to our code and finally made our bot run according to what we intended to. At last, we compiled it and hosted it on the Heroku server to run it 24/7.

Challenges we ran into

  1. At First, we were facing challenges to show updates about all the Top coins as the API of Crypto Compare was only for a particular coin but we still managed to overcome this problem and ended up showing updates about all the Top Crypto Coins.

  2. Secondly, the Bot we made was running only when we were running it on our local computer and getting stopped if we stopped the program so we got worried about how to make it run 24/7.As this was the first time we developed a telegram bot so we were unaware of the fact that we need something to host it for 24 hours, after that we came to know about Heroku and hosted our bot on Heroku to run it 24/7.

  3. We also faced a problem while working with Heroku, as this was the first time we used Heroku that is why we faced the problem with Proc File by which it will run online automatically if we do any code changes or run it for the first time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that at last even after facing so many errors and different problems we can develop something exactly what we intended to make before starting this project. Also, we are happy that this bot will be able to help many people who are currently involved in Crypto Currency Trading.

What we learned

We have learned about the following points:- 1.) How to make Telegram Bots that we can later utilize for various purposes which will also be useful for other people 2.) We learned working with APIs and how useful they are for programming some creative projects out of our different ideas. 3.) We learned about hosting with Heroku that will be useful for us to deal with our next projects.

What's next for Crypto Updates Tracker Bot

Next, we are planning to update this project with more features such as:- 1.) Providing updates for every single coin user will choose to check. 2.) Giving Alert to the user automatically when any Cryptocurrency's price (that the user chooses to see) will reach above some given price range or below some price range. 3.) We are also planning to add updates about Gold and Silver Prices that will help the traders to remain updated in place.
