Inspiration

Racoon challenge: Help youth to manage their finances. The idea for CrownGrowth was sparked by the growing financial challenges faced by young people, particularly Gen Z. We noticed a significant gap in financial literacy among this age group, leading to poor money management and increasing credit card debt. Despite the availability of free online resources, we found that many young adults feel overwhelmed by complex financial topics and lack the motivation to learn. Our goal was to create an engaging, interactive platform that not only teaches financial skills but also motivates users through gamified learning experiences and community support.

What it does

CrownGrowth is a comprehensive financial literacy app designed to help users learn essential money management skills while tracking their financial health. The app provides a series of educational modules covering topics like budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. Users earn points for completing lessons and tracking their financial progress, which can be used to unlock new content. Additionally, the app features a social component, allowing users to connect with friends, share their progress, and offer support, fostering a sense of accountability and motivation, because you also can get points from your friends progress.

How we built it

For now, we have developed an HTML prototype of CrownGrowth to showcase the app’s visual design and core functionality. This prototype allows us to demonstrate the user interface and gather initial feedback. In future iterations, we plan to implement the full features outlined earlier, including educational modules, gamification, financial tracking, and social support, using technologies like React Native and Firebase for a comprehensive, cross-platform experience.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was balancing educational content with an engaging user experience. We needed to ensure that the app was both informative and easy to use, catering to users with varying levels of financial knowledge. Designing an intuitive interface that appeals to both beginners and more experienced users was crucial. Additionally, integrating accurate financial tracking data required selecting reliable APIs and ensuring robust data security measures. Implementing social features like friend support and progress sharing was another challenge, as it involved creating meaningful interactions while maintaining user privacy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud of several aspects of CrownGrowth. Firstly, our UI/UX design stands out, offering a clean, intuitive, and user-friendly interface that makes navigating the app enjoyable, even for beginners. We focused on creating an engaging visual experience that simplifies complex financial concepts and keeps users motivated throughout their learning journey.

Additionally, we take pride in our pitch and business presentation and video. We developed a compelling narrative that highlights the importance of financial literacy among young people, backed by strong market research and a clear vision for the app’s growth potential. This comprehensive presentation showcases the problem we aim to solve, the unique features of our app, and its value to users, helping us effectively communicate our idea to potential investors and stakeholders.

Lastly, we are proud of our overall purpose and vision. The idea behind CrownGrowth is innovative and impactful, aiming to address a significant gap in financial education for young adults. By combining interactive learning, financial tracking, and community support, we believe our app can make a real difference in improving financial literacy and helping users take control of their financial futures.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the importance of user engagement and the power of community support in learning. We discovered that young users are more likely to stay committed to improving their financial literacy when they are motivated by interactive elements and can track their progress. We also learned valuable lessons in app development, particularly in designing intuitive interfaces and making business researches. Pitching also is new experience for all of us.

What's next for CrownGrowth

Over the next year, app will introduce automated banking integration to simplify money tracking, AI-driven financial advice to personalise the experience, and global features to expand our impact.
