What it does Critical AI verifies AI-generated claims in real time, surfacing trustworthy sources and exposing hallucinations before misinformation spreads.
How we built it We combined Exa Labs’ search API with Perplexity’s reasoning engine, wrapped it in a Chrome extension, and designed a sleek, minimal interface for instant fact-checks.
Challenges we ran into Integrating multiple APIs, handling different output formats, and creating a user experience that’s both transparent and non-intrusive pushed our limits.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We went from idea to working prototype in a weekend — with a fully functional fact-checker that empowers anyone to challenge AI confidently.
What we learned Technical tools mean nothing without usability — transparency, speed, and trust are just as important as accuracy in AI governance.
What's next for Critical AI We’re expanding beyond a browser tool to a cross-platform fact-check API, partnering with educators, journalists, and policymakers to scale truth in the AI era.
