Inspiration
CrisisCue was inspired by the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters worldwide, particularly the recent events of rampant hurricanes. We recognized the need for a comprehensive tool that leverages AI and real-time data to enhance disaster preparedness and response, ultimately saving lives and minimizing damage.
What it does
CrisisCue is an AI-driven disaster response system that provides real-time weather insights, alerts, and actionable information. It helps communities prepare for and respond to natural disasters by delivering tailored alerts, resource allocation suggestions, and emergency coordination support.
How we built it
We built CrisisCue using a combination of advanced machine-learning algorithms and data analysis techniques. We integrated APIs for real-time weather data, developed an intuitive user interface, and employed tools like Chart.js for data visualization, ensuring users can easily access and understand critical information.
Challenges we ran into
There are MANY difficulties with API implementation due to CORS and the absence of a secure server.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of successfully developing a prototype that accurately analyzes weather data and generates real-time alerts. Additionally, our collaboration with local emergency response teams has validated our approach, ensuring that our system meets real-world needs.
What we learned
We learned the importance of user feedback in refining our system and the critical role of accurate data in disaster management. Additionally, we discovered that effective communication and collaboration with emergency services are vital for building trust and ensuring our tool is genuinely useful.
What's next for CrisisCue
Next, we aim to enhance CrisisCue's capabilities by incorporating more data sources, refining our AI algorithms for better predictions, and expanding our outreach to communities and organizations that can benefit from our system. We also plan to conduct further testing and gather user feedback to optimize the platform for a wider audience.
