Inspiration
My inspiration for this application is wanting to be able to understand the global supply and examine how different scenarios can affect it. In additional, the NYCEDC has invested $45 Million dollars into "Gotham Foundry" a laboratory focused researching biomaterials. Not only will this create more job, but it can protect companies from global black swan events such as 2021 Suez Canal obstruction, or attacks on ships in the red sea.
What it does
the user types in a product, and we use Google Gemini to get the top 5 companies, then their location. This is important to get an idea of the supply lines.
How we built it
This is build using Google Gemini's SDK, Google place API, and the Geocoding API
Challenges we ran into
- the output at the moment has high invariance, with better prompting are using google search as a tool we can minimize the variance. In addition, I would like to keep a database of companies that we have identified to get a more exhaustive list. In addition, the Gemini SDKs for JavaScript seemed to only allow for single order datatypes throwing errors when second order datatypes were used.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm happy getting the MVP completed to the point where I can demo it.
What we learned
I used this application to learn how much American companies like Texas instruments, Nike, Intel rely on companies globally to produce goods.
What's next for Global Supply Chain Anlayzer
- I would like to be able for the user to add compare 2 similar products to determine, which product is most safe to geopolitical turmoil
- I would so like to know, if possible, why companies picked certain companies as partners, and be able to have a supply network. This could be important to investors who want to know logistical choke points, and for founders to do research on product demands
