Inspiration

I wanted to make a tool to visualize your restaurant vs grocery spend. During the build, it turned into more of a "what kind of ___ am I?" type of quick experience.

What it does

Currently, just takes in your restaurant and grocery spend in form inputs and does nothing with them. Later they will influence what the character in the below game does.

How we built it

Wrote out the two big pieces first: game experience and web experience. Then looked for pixel art which took forever and built the easiest thing first: the React form inputs. After that focused on the game.

Challenges we ran into

Godot mobile web export can be a pain in the butt; lots of assets to include. Got caught up missing one for a while. Vite also didn't want to Fast Refresh for a while.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Can now quickly export updates to the game portion without having to re-deploy everything

What we learned

The Godot WASM engine is very heavy. Will need to download it to the browser in the background while the user does other things
