Brief intro:

In the EU, carbon credits given to companies reduced carbon di oxide emissions by 3.8% a year, despite the ETS being implemented poorly. This got us wondering. What if people set their own limits, following which they paid to offset the resultant excess carbon footprint? Our aim is to encourage the average person to take the right steps before we, as a species, take too many wrong ones. Do you want to help to improve our planet? Do you want to join the transactions of carbon Market? Tweet your friends and join COyou, a brand new carbon virtual market! The Problem:

We believe that many people are concerned about the environment but fail to integrate this concern into their daily lives.

79% of 18-29yr olds in Australia have concerns that climate change will harm them in the future (2021, source: https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2021/09/14/in-response-to-climate-change-citizens-in-advanced-economies-are-willing-to-alter-how-they-live-and-work/)

Only 39% of the public are willing to make a lot of changes to help reduce the effects of climate change (2021, source: https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2021/09/14/in-response-to-climate-change-citizens-in-advanced-economies-are-willing-to-alter-how-they-live-and-work/)

How We Fix It:

Carbon credits were devised as a mechanism to incentivize companies to reduce CO2 emissions.

We apply this same concept but for individuals, where people receive carbon credits by reducing their transportation-related emissions.

COYou carbon credits are public and tradeable amongst any user’s friend group, fostering a sense of mutual accountability.

Bolstered by the support of their peers, we believe that people will adopt better behavior.
