Inspiration
The inspiration that led us to build this project is the current pandemic. Coronavirus is an affliction that has affected everyone to some extent. In the case of students like ourselves, we have no alternative but to do online schooling. Moreover, quarantining is applicable to everyone to some extent. While this is essential to do, this can become very boring.
We have created a game that individuals can play in the comfort of their homes. This game will reduce boredom, as well as reminding individuals of the severity of coronavirus.
What it does
It's a game that focuses on dodging coronavirus particles as long as you can while replacing your mask with new ones and sanitize yourself to keep your immunities up against the pandemic. This allows the player to have fun and learn what they need to do during the pandemic. Wear a mask, keep yourself sanitized, and stay away from coronavirus.
How we built it
We used the phaser.js framework to design the game itself and created the title using Html/CSS and javascript while hosting the website for free using Heroku. We also assigned our jobs using the Trello board.
Challenges we ran into
The challenge mainly came from giving each of ourselves a specific job to work on as we ended up have members do the same thing at the same time in different ways. There we also ran into the issue of unfamiliarity with phaser.js for some of our members.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to overcome the challenges we faced and were able to work together thanks to communicating with each other and working to learn what each of us had to do.
What we learned
We learned to be more communicative about our problems and work together to solve them. We learned about phaser.js and more about web application development through this experience.
What's next for Covid Runaway
If we were to improve this application, the next step would be to make a better interface for the game to make it easier for the players to understand the game without the rule book
