Inspiration
I wanted to build a useful chatbot that could bring value on a daily basis and not just once to people who are spending a lot of time on social media since the quarantine began. When I saw that the hackathon was under the patronage of the Swiss Federation, the idea became to create the chatbot that I wish the Swiss Confederation had.
What it does
With simple queries as well as a navigation menu, it gives you the latest stats about hospitalization, ICU, deaths for each canton, link to useful ressources such as hotline, check up and lastest press conferences from Swiss Federation, and entrepreneurial projects that sprout in the midst of the crisis (DireQt, Local Heroes, Geneva Friends etc...)
How I built it
I wanted to build it from scratch to be able to go multi-platform, however I decided that Facebook was enough to reach the critical mass at first, so I just built it on Chatfuel.com.
Challenges I ran into
- Get access to the data I wanted from JSON requests. 2. Not crossing the ethical line set by the Cambridge Analytica Scandal 3. How to be innovative without being a perfectionist during this crisis ## Accomplishments that I'm proud of I found a loophole to explain why I didn't wrote any code to build the product. The hackathon is not called CodingVSCovid19, but CodeVSCovid19...which can be interpreted as pieces of code that fight the virus, which is what my chatbot does. ## What I learned
- 80% of my friends know what's a chatbot, however never use any. 2. Data is gold in sanitary ## What's next for Covid Central I think it would be interesting to develop daily surveys about the confinement condition and not only sanitary situations. For example, being able to self-report that there are violences in a couple, the amount of people that feels real symptoms of clinical depression, what are the challenges, what products are actually missing other than toilet paper.
Built With
