Inspiration
The new coronavirus is a pandemic, and the recent case in Montreal opened our eyes to this disease. We realized how important it was to protect ourselves and stay informed about this worldwide crisis. After doing some research, we found out that scientists around the world don't always work together, but mostly independently.
What it does
First of all, our website informs people about the coronavirus (the problems caused by this pandemic, the symptoms and effects of the virus and the preventions to limit the spreading of the disease). Staying informed during this kind of crisis is crucial to staying safe.
Our website includes a forum for each country where scientists and population can discuss their thoughts about the virus in order to find the cure more easily. Furthermore, there is also a forum that groups the scientists representing every country so they can discuss new discoveries and possible cures.
How we built it
We did a lot of research to find the latest update on the coronavirus. Then ,we brainstormed and designed the product (website). Afterwards, we separated the task and started coding our websites with html (with css and javascript too). We coded a draft-like copy of the code, then polished to make our website more appealing by adding images and colours. Also,
Challenges we ran into
For the forum, we weren't able to send or display or the messages. Therefore, we did some research, and following that, made a prototype that doesn't meet our expectations yet. Also, we had difficulty falling asleep, and so, encountered tiredness.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to able to build a website that is close to meeting our expectations.
What we learned
We learned some new notions on html and css, as well as javascript. We also learned how to ideate. We learnt the rough process of making a brand and how hard it can be.
What's next for COVID-19
We hope that we will find a way to make the forum work and publish it so it can actually help scientists talk about their ideas and eventually save the world rom this deadly virus.
