Inspiration
Over the course of the last few years, we have realized one of the key things missing from all levels of education; a personalized and interactive learning experience. There are many people that learn in many different ways and often times standardized education makes it difficult for certain types of learners to flourish. On top of this, many students struggle with disorganized lecture notes, lack of personalized study plans, and inefficient revision techniques. This are all part of the reasons behind CorQ.
What it does
CorQ is an AI-powered, student driven education platform that encourages interactive and personalized learning. CorQ offers a variety of features all aimed towards making a student’s life significantly easier while encouraging positive healthy habits and fostering a greater sense of discipline. CorQ addresses a wide range of use cases for students aiming to optimize their learning process. The platform enables efficient course management by organizing lecture slides and study materials by course, ensuring easy access and streamlined preparation. Students can leverage the interactive AI chat to get precise answers to course-related questions, using their uploaded materials as a reference. For exam preparation, personalized study plans help create customized schedules with clear milestones, while practice test creation allows students to generate tailored tests based on their lecture content. To support efficient revision, AI-powered lecture summaries transform slides and recordings into concise notes and flashcards. Finally, AI-generated lecture videos provide engaging discussion delivered by an AI avatar, making complex topics easier to understand.

Challenges we ran into
Creating the fully AI-powered lecture summary video generation was a massive challenge. It involved integrating multiple forms of filetypes like images, text, audio and video. Finding solutions while navigating through dated documentation and incompatibilities between the wide range of libraries we were utilizing was also time consuming. Keeping track of all the data involved and the dependencies between them to ensure consistent and accurate data handling was also a big hurdle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The AI-generated lecture video player is one of the best features in our product and the one we’re most proud of. This feature is able to take large amounts of lecture content and notes and create a condensed yet informative narrated lecture video to help students in their learning. This is especially useful for those who learn better by listening as it allows for an AI presenter to discuss course content in the form of a lecture. Aside from video generation, we are also quite proud of the study plan generator. This study planner does a fairly good job of providing a simple roadmap for students looking to study through a set of lectures. It also is incredibly easy to use which makes it even more accessible for users of CorQ.
What we learned
Being able to build out close to the complete set of features we had decided on at the start of the hackathon by managing our time well and maintaining morale. The importance of user-centric design in education tools How difficult LLMs and AI can be to deal with Non-deterministic responses need to be dealt with accordingly which can be difficult
What's next for CorQ
One of the biggest feature sets that we want to implement into CorQ is an accountability system with the purpose of boosting focus and productivity. With tools such as Pomodoro timers, phone usage tracking, smart scheduling and constant reminders to help a student stay on track, this system is meant to help those who find it harder to concentrate or get focused. As people who fall into this category of students we know how important staying accountable is to developing healthy habits which is why our hope is to build out an incredibly robust set of features. Further down the line, there will also be a mobile app to help minimize phone based distractions and maximize productivity.
