Coronavirus Tracker

Inspiration

The Coronavirus outbreak caused nationwide panic. With this app, we could show and track the progress of the virus in the United States.

What it does

An interactive map that helps you visualize the spread of Coronavirus throughout the United States in the hopes of preventing further spread of the virus.

How I built it

Golang backend talks to a javascript frontend using MapBox API Selenium webscraping for news data

I worked on the backend to scrap statistics about the coronavirus using Golang and then store them in MongoDB. I also worked on the backend communication with the frontend to forward data from backend to frontend.

I worked on the front-end, mostly utilizing the Mapbox GL JS API to show the areas we are focused on. I also set up event handlers within the map(s) and assisted with the styling of the page.
