Inspiration
We came up with this idea because of all the issues we were facing with this new virus. It is hard to stay home, as you see many people going outside even when the state orders it to lockdown. This inspired our idea of the next coronavirus simulator, which maps out all the dangers of getting sick when exposed to this new virus.
What it does
It's a game where we have lots of squares representing houses, and the black representing the virus.
How we built it
We used the tkinter module in Python
Challenges we ran into
We had to learn lots of tkinter, because our whole team was filled with beginners. We all watched some tutorials online to get started with tkinter.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created our main game, but that is not ready yet. What we are proud of is our teamwork and how we got this far. Without this hackathon, I wouldn't imagine grinding through all these tutorials to create a game like we just did.
What we learned
We learned the real struggles of how coding is like, while also enjoying the process. Each one of our team members were crucial to this success, and that's amazing. We learned to fail and get back from those failures.
What's next for Coronavirus Simulator
Even though this main project isn't finished, we will still continue to work on it as a side project and hopefully have the main game ready to play. Our goal is to help people get better knowledge of the new coronavirus.
