Inspiration
I was inspired by a news telecast that showed how many people in the world were not aware of information related to Covid-19. This caused me to want to build a easily accessible app so everyone could stay alert about the latest information related to Covid-19.
What it does
The app shows the major statistics related to Covid-19 using the John Hopkins dataset and is updated live.
How I built it
I created a webapp using Flutter to show the global map of markers related to coronavirus by country. I used google maps API and Firebase to host the data.
Challenges I ran into
Challenges that I ran into were using Flutter for crossplatform development, using Firebase, passing John Hopkins data into containers.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Accomplishments that I'm proud of are using creating an app that is easy to access by everyone, helping increase awareness of coronavirus, using Flutter successfully, and being able to overcome all the challenges I faced on the way.
What I learned
I learned how to successfully use Flutter, pass John Hopkins data into containers and use crossplatform framework.
What's next for Covid-19 Live Tracker
Next, I will try to improve the app by having more localized data, such as states, and adding more information, such as top 5 countries with coronavirus cases, some tips to reduce chances of gettting coronavirus, and others.
