Inspiration
We created this project to tackle a small but common problem that a lot of people encounter everyday, which is low efficiency. There are many tasks that can be optimized, and our project successfully optimizes the task of finding text.
What it does
Our project is a Chrome extension that allows you to perform the Ctrl+F command across multiple tabs, making finding text easier than ever. It will search through all open tabs for the specified text and display these results.
How we built it
We built this project by learning as we went along; it was like building a boat in the middle of an ocean. Prior to doing this, we had no experience with Chrome extensions, and also minimal experience with web development itself. We relied a lot on online resources, but in the end we were able to solve most of our problems and get the project together.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was inexperience, which can mostly only be overcome with time. Despite this, we persevered through and found a lot of help from the internet and more experienced people.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of two main things. The first is our highly innovative idea. We truly believe that our idea is revolutionary and very useful. The second is how we were able to mostly get the project together considering our inexperience.
What we learned
This experience was overall very enlightening as it was our first hackathon. Some things to take away are time management, and also to research some topics beforehand.
What's next for Control Find
Given the amount of time, there are still many known and hidden bugs that still need to be fixed. We plan on polishing our project to be fully functional, add a few more features (such as Case Sensitive functionality) and publish it to the chrome webstore.
