Connect Catalyst is the future

The idea for Connect Catalyst was born out of frustration—mine and that of countless other job seekers. I had spent months mass-applying to jobs, sending out cold LinkedIn messages, and hearing nothing but silence. Despite having strong skills, hackathon wins, and internships, the traditional job search process felt broken. It wasn’t just about qualifications anymore; it was about connections. But networking felt like a black box—who should I reach out to, and how could I make my outreach actually work?

That’s when I realized there had to be a better way. Instead of blindly reaching out, what if I could strategically navigate my network using AI? What if I could pinpoint the right people who could actually open doors? That’s where GraphRAG and Connect Catalyst came in—leveraging graph intelligence, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI-driven insights to turn cold outreach into warm, high-impact conversations.

Building this wasn’t easy. I had to construct a synthetic LinkedIn network dataset to simulate real-world professional relationships, since actual LinkedIn data isn’t publicly available. Using ArangoDB for graph storage and NetworkX for analytics, I mapped connections between professionals, companies, and job opportunities. Then came the AI layer—function tools that allowed an agentic RAG system to intelligently query the graph, suggest connections, and even draft personalized outreach messages.

Of course, challenges came knocking. One big limitation? OpenAI credits. I went all-in on testing and refining queries—so much so that I burned through my weekly allowance just to make this work. If there’s one thing I learned, it’s that good AI doesn’t come cheap! To keep the project moving, I rephrased some queries for the demo to make responses more natural and structured. Even though I couldn’t fully test every single reworded query, I ensured that the logic remained intact, and the results still worked as intended.

At the end of the day, Connect Catalyst isn’t just another networking or job search tool—it’s the kind of solution I wish I had months ago, when I was stuck in the cycle of endless applications and ghosted messages. It’s for every job seeker who knows they have the skills but just needs the right connections to get noticed. Now, instead of waiting for opportunities, Connect Catalyst helps you create them.
