🌙 Sleepify: Real Talk for Real Sleep What Inspired Us It was 2:34am — and like so many others, we couldn't sleep. Scrolling Reddit, TikTok, insomnia forums, we kept seeing the same cries for help:

“I don’t want another meditation app.”

“I wish something would just listen to me at night.”

“I want it cozy, not clinical.”

People didn’t want rigid programs or quick fixes. They wanted real connection, real conversation, and real emotional processing — the true way to calm the mind for restful sleep.

That’s what inspired Sleepify: An app that talks with you when you can’t sleep, listens without judgment, and gently helps you untangle your mind.

What We Learned People deeply crave emotional validation at night — not solutions, but being seen.

Forced meditation or CBT paths can feel alienating when someone is struggling at 2AM.

Voice journaling feels far more natural and low-energy than typing during night anxiety.

A soft, non-stimulating interface (dark mode, slow animations) dramatically improves the emotional experience.

Building safety and warmth into technology is just as important as functionality.

How We Built It We started by diving deep into user research — exploring Reddit threads, TikTok videos, and mental health forums to really listen to insomniacs' pain points.

We narrowed the idea to "real conversation, real calming" based on that research.

Built the prototype on Bolt.new — fast and flexible for hackathon speed.

Integrated OpenAI Whisper for speech-to-text and GPT-4 Turbo for emotional understanding and conversation.

Designed and added a calm, human-like AI voice via ElevenLabs.

Created original TikTok videos featuring a "little human" character struggling to fall asleep — resonating with 3K+ views overnight.

Used a lightweight no-login system to make it frictionless for users.
