Commute.ly

What it does: Commute.ly is an application concept where users can have the option to check and keep track of their public transportation options in one single application. Not only the application has the ability to book cabs, keep track on buses and train in stations, but also shows whether the transport is safe for specially abled people or not.

How we built it: To build this concept, first, we took a lot of info and gathered data, thanks to Google. The references are pasted here:

  1. Transportation Patterns and Problems of People with Disabilities
  2. How to make public transport accessible and inclusive for all
  3. Making Public Transport Information Accessible to Disabled People
  4. For Persons with Disabilities, Accessible Transport Provides Pathways to Opportunity
  5. Accessibility for Disabled in Public Transportation Terminal
  6. Public Transportation Market Size, Share & Trends Analysis Report By Distribution Channel (Online, Offline), By Mode Type (Road, Rail), By Region, And Segment Forecasts, 2022 - 2028

After the research, I took inspiration from Uber (a cab app), designed the Android interface.

What we learned: This project gave me some insights on how to work in time constraints, how to be productive and effective. Also, while researching data, I got to learn more about the transportation pattern and the possibilities of solving these issues in order to make the public transportation accessible to anyone and everyone.

What's next for Commute.ly: There are few drawbacks, and there are lot more to add and modify, which stopped due to time constraints. But yes, it is expected that we will make an working application soon.
