What it does
Community Watch is a community safety app. Ideally, the app is for each member of a community (so everyone has the app). When an emergency situation arises, emergency services can drop a geofence at or around the area where the incident occurred, and thus will notify anyone in the area or anyone who enters the geofence.
How I built it
We built the app's front-end with Android Studio and used Java and Python for the back-end.
Challenges I ran into
We ran into a lot of challenges with understanding how to store data into a database and working with Java libraries.
What I learned
We learned how to implement APIs and work with Android Studio to create Google Maps apps.
What's next for Community Watch
With the concept of geofencing, we came up with other uses for an app that showcases geofences, such as a pothole reporting app, or a party locator for university students.
