Inspiration

Covid-19 showed the many problems that are prevalent in our modern healthcare system. One such problem was the lack of essential supplies, such as in the ventilator and N-95 Mask shortages. This occurred not from a lack of funding, but from a lack of manufacturing. Our group decided that we should tackle this modern problem with a modern solution.

What Community Supplier does

Community Supplier is a web application built around fulfilling quick requests from Hospitals or other Medical Institutions. An administrator from these institutions can access our application and submit a request for any type of supply need: ventilators, N-95 masks, room partitions, etc. and expect an independent manufacturer to see and fulfill the request in due time.

How we built it

As a team, we discussed how we should delegate roles and tasks from the beginning. Becoming a unit, with specific tasks in mind, we were able to successfully meet requirements and build our web application by utilizing individual strengths and learning goals.

Challenges we ran into

Most of our team members lacked experience in connecting certain frameworks together in order to complete a successful web application. With perseverance, we were able to overcome these challenges and adjust so our goals were meant in the timeframe required.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

By far, our group is most proud of being able to connect our web application to a cloud database. After hours of programming and adjusting our strategy, we were finally able to input our data and see it appear within our cloud database. Our entire group is proud that we overcame this goliath of an obstacle and feel comfortable saying we can utilize Google Cloud for our future projects.

What we learned

Most people will say they learned many technical skills after completing such a project. Our group did learn such things, but mainly we learned a lot about perseverance and teamwork. There were many times that we almost scrapped some ideas, but by pushing through we were able to fulfill our original idea and have a web application we are proud of.
