Community finder

Inspiration

My parents when coming to the us had trouble finding a community, this app can help with that. This isn't just a personal problem. In commonly listed problem for immigrants is adjusting to a new cultural. Having some bits of their old culture can help. Another commonly listed problem is employment which can be solved since users can communicate about upcoming job fairs or opportunity's.

What it does

Finds a user who could be a good fit for you.

How we built it

I used Tkinter for the frontend and python for the backend and sqlite for the database.

Challenges we ran into

Learning frontend with Tkinter and sqlite. Learning how the Phaversine formula worked and coding it in.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating an app in solo in a hackathon.

What we learned

How to use databases, and the proof of the haversine formula.

What's next for Community finder

Better matchmaking and maybe better UI.
