PROTOTYPE: CommuniGo

Inspiration

As TAMS students, community service has become an integral part of our lives and something we wish to continue with the same reach as we can at TAMS even after graduation. remember the struggle of finding volunteering opportunities in middle and high school? Well, this app will make community service accessible and fun for all students and others through customizable avatars, an interactive map, friends, and achievements.

CommuniGo is an app we all wish we had, a way to foster a love for community that isn't mandated and difficult such as NJHS and other honors programs in American middle and high schools. overall, we believe our app is a fun addition to community service, an easy and accessible way to increase service and help impact communities across the globe.

What it does

CommuniGo allows users to find volunteer opportunities and donation locations faster and more efficiently through interactive maps. You can also add friends, customize your avatar and room, and have a communication line with volunteer organizers making volunteering more fun.

How we built it

First, we developed the idea and created a basic frame of the app and then fleshed out the details like how each tab would work, how information would be displayed, how users and organizations would be verified, etc. Then used Canva to design the app layout and its features.

Challenges we ran into

Being able to show every feature on the app was difficult with our limited resources. Also, when launching this app, a possible challenge would be marketing this to volunteer organizations to register them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We think that it is a fun service that has a lot of potential to positively impact communities everywhere and that it is targeted to a wide age range (middle school and above) as it is both accessible and easy to use.
