Inspiration
We were inspired by the stories of Military families, who go through so much while protecting their country. Not just the Military recruits themselves go through challenges, but their families also do. They get lonely, and sometimes develop depression, or are affected in other ways. We are inspired by the bravery of the Military and want to help them out with this problem.
What it does
This is basically social media for military families, allowing them to match up with other military families that are similar to them. This will help them connect with more people with the same challenges as them, helping them feel less lonely. Users sign in with Google and are shown other users they might be interested in talking to. Users can choose whether they would like to contact the person they are currently being shown, in which case the person is added to the user's list of matched individuals.
How we built it
We used Firebase to handle authentication and store user info, and a simple HTML/CSS website.
Challenges we ran into
We were not able to get the website hosted/polished in this short amount of time, and are thus unable to share a link to the site, unfortunately.
What we learned
Tackle smaller projects for hackathons that are shorter, like this one.
