Inspiration

During this period of online learning, many students have moved to Discord as means of communication with their classmates. Cometbot provides features for Discord groups that improves learning and communication.

What it does

Cometbot allows professors to add assignments to an internal group calendar. Students can view the upcoming assignment list at any time. Additionally, Cometbot provides a way for students to anonymously ask questions about course material so that they can receive answers from their peers. Cometbot also provides several miscellaneous learning features such as math expression parsing and dictionary definition lookup.

How I built it

Cometbot runs on Node.js using the Eris library.

What's next for Cometbot

With Blackboard API access, Cometbot would be able to integrate eLearning's calendar and grading system to provide additional features for students in the group. The professor would also be able to send eLearning announcements and posts to the Discord group automatically.
