College Prep Assistant

Inspiration

I wanted to create an app that helps students with their college application process. One of the main things that people struggle with is choosing which colleges they should apply to. My website provides basic information about certain colleges and their top 3 popular majors.

What it does

College Prep Assistant provides basic information and the top 3 popular majors of certain colleges, to help students decide what colleges they should apply to. In the future, I hope to expand the number of colleges that I am displaying and gather actual information about each college.

How I built it

Website was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Challenges I ran into

As I am new to HTML and CSS, I had trouble adding a popup to display information about the colleges. I learned how to do it by looking at YouTube videos and reading articles on W3 Schools.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I got this project to run and work. This is the first project that I have worked on individually, and I hope to expand on it and do more projects.

What I learned

Before starting this project, I had little to no knowledge of HTML and CSS, but through this project I learned the basics of both.

What's next for College Prep Assistant

I would like to add more features to help in more areas of the college application process. Currently the app is showing basic information about certain schools, I would like to expand it to basic information about all schools. In addition, I would add a timeline feature so users can keep track of their admission deadlines.
