Here's The Deal, We Spend Too Much Time On Our Phones...

and sure there are other apps out there that try to solve the problem by showing you some scary graphs to try to deter you from phone use or even utility apps that will physically lock you out of your phone for a certain amount of time. But where's the fun in that? There's no replay value.

So We Added Gambling To The Mix

Yes that's right. CoinChaser allows you to "bet" your friends who can stay off their phone the longest. The one who unlocks their phone first loses. (Important to note that this is completely virtual currency, not attached to any real monetary value). A leader-board dictates who among your facebook friends has the most willpower.

What We Learned

A lot of IOS-development and firebase techniques. It was a really fun app to build.

What Problems We Encountered

It was really difficult to get firebase to communicate with facebook on the IOS app. There were lots of moving parts. We ended up having to do them separately (unfortunately). When we revisit the app in the future, we would love to use firebase's commands to control facebook instead.

Where We Go From Here

We're definitely going to continue building the app in the future. Hopefully we can get it ready for the app store in a couple of weeks! If you support the project, definitely toss us a like! We really appreciate it <3.
