Inspiration

Growing up in single-parent homes hindered building strong bonds with our overburdened parents during childhood. Drawing from our personal struggles, we were inspired to create a solution that addresses the difficulties many single-parent households encounter in providing comprehensive guidance and support for their children.

What it does

Coe provides accessible AI companionship, guidance, and gender-specific role modeling, ensuring that every child receives the love, support, and life lessons they deserve. Whether a parent is too busy or a child lacks a parental figure, Coe bridges the gap, fostering emotional connections and enriching young lives. With Coe, no child grows up without the nurturing presence of a supportive parent figure.

How we built it

Established a connection between the APIs and the Flask server. Then send information about the API to the Swift UI app through the Flask server.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Establishing working connections between APIs and Flask, Flask and SwiftUI, and APIs and SwiftUI
Successfully developed a mobile app despite it being our FIRST time developing an app.

How to utilize each team member to the fullest in ways that would further the goal of the project

What's next for AI Coe-Parent

implement face recognition (to identify each child of the household and make their experience with Coe unique)
implement an interactive ai avatar(design using MidJourney)
use D-ID's API for avatar and text-to-video implementation
Use AR to bring AI parent avatar into the real world using echo3D
Personalized notifications(check on user to maintain engagement and overall quality of health)-- would periodically be sent out(every few days)

For Coe, I played a pivotal role in the implementation of APIs along with updating the character. I actively engaged in integrating all the components of the project together by working closely with my team. Overcoming the challenges we faced regarding APIs, front, and the backend, my problem-solving skills strengthened.

Nidhi Patel
As a key contributor to the project's frontend development, I leveraged SwiftUI to architect a user-centric interface that emphasizes both aesthetics and functionality. This endeavor also presented a valuable opportunity to refine my skills in API integration within Swift applications.

Adolfo Fabian Calderon
I developed the backend, utilizing Flask for API implementation and integrating it with the Swift iOS frontend. Bridging the gap between Flask and Swift expanded my skills in cross-platform development and allowed me to play a key role in the project's cross-platform functionality.

Tala Alkabbani
As the project manager and leader of the team, I played a pivotal role in the development of our AI parenting app. Amidst the tight deadline of 36 hours during the hackathon, I ensured that our team remained organized, focused, and motivated, even when sleep deprivation began to take its toll. I carefully assigned tasks to each team member based on their individual skill sets, providing programming assistance and general guidance whenever challenges arose. Additionally, I implemented one of the two AI APIs that we utilized for the project, contributing directly to the app's functionality.
