Inspiration
We were inspired to create a social app to help combat the isolation that all of us are experiencing during COVID-19. We wanted something that would connect people to fun virtual social gatherings to ensure that our app was friendly and accessible to everyone during these times.
What it does
This application was designed to link people to social groups and help them meet others online that share common interests while taking part in fun activities. Groups would include things such as movie nights, fitness classes, book clubs, etc. Users can create a profile and rate different areas of personal interest. Clubout would then recommend social groups catered to them and also allow them to manually search based on category. After selecting a group, they can view the details of the group and choose to join up at the next scheduled meeting time. Users also have the option of creating their own group.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, javascript, and Bootstrap 5 to design the webpages. Firebase was used for login authentication. Logo was created with brandmark.
Challenges we ran into
The website has limited functionality as most of us have little coding experience. We primarily focused on the visual design.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first time for all of our team members to participate in a hackathon and we are proud of what we were able to produce in such a short time frame.
What we learned
We learned github, how to edit videos, and built upon our knowledge of javascript.
What's next for clubout
We'd like to introduce some personalization and functionality into the site, such as club recommendations that are based on the interests that the user input to their profile.
