Outfit Automation
Browsing new clothes or picking from your current ones? Take the guesswork out of style and shop ready with the AI-powered Outfit Automator.
Inspiration
Considering "Drudgery" brought about that moment in the shopping centre when you see a new shirt you would really like to wear but are not quite sure what it would match with out of your current clothes. Automating the visualisation and finding an optimal match to see the potential of the new piece of clothing quickly instead of spending time is the purpose of this project.
What it does
When given an image (and any manually entered attributes if necessary), the software finds the best match out of the current clothes added to the system and returns it, along with a visual display of the potential combination.
How we built it
Using open source library OpenCV, we built the model using colour recognition techniques and created automated clothing matches using the main colour extracted. Users can input photos of their clothes and it generates pairings to help the user decide which clothes match or should they buy a piece of clothing or not.
Challenges we ran into
Object detection was difficult and the potential features we aimed to implement with it had to be adapted. Making the software accessible and simple was also a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Able to generate clothes matching based on style, colour and type of clothing.
What we learned
We learned about integrating libraries and making full use of open source libraries and fully utilising attributes generated from using open source tools, such as OpenCV.
What's next for Outfit Automation
Making suggestions if a piece of clothing matches the user’s current style and wardrobe or if the user wants to try new styles, recommend accordingly.
