Inspiration

The inspiration for creating the Climate Action website came from my growing awareness of the environmental issues affecting our planet. Climate change is one of the most pressing issues we face today, and I wanted to contribute by raising awareness and encouraging action. I aimed to build a website that provides users with actionable steps they can take to reduce their carbon footprint, as well as real-time data on environmental impacts.

What it does

A Carbon Footprint Calculator to assess individual environmental impact. Daily Actionable Tips for sustainable living. Real-time Data on carbon emissions, air quality, and deforestation. Interactive Visuals to engage users and make environmental data more accessible.

How we built it

Frontend: Built with React for dynamic components and CSS/SCSS for styling. API Integration: Real-time data sourced via Axios from environmental APIs, displayed using Charts.js. Design: Created in Figma for a user-friendly interface.

Challenges we ran into

API Limitations: Finding reliable data sources was challenging. Responsive Design: Ensuring the site was mobile-friendly required multiple iterations. Performance: Optimized load times using caching and lazy loading.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully integrated live environmental data. Developed interactive charts for user engagement. Designed a clean, user-friendly interface.

What we learned

Improved React and API integration skills. Gained experience in performance optimization and data visualization. Focused on user-centered design for accessibility.

What's next for Project

Integrate more environmental data sources. Add community features for user engagement. Explore building a mobile app for broader reach.
