Analyzing the Impact of Climate Change Tweets

Inspiration

We wanted to examine the relevance of Twitter and its real-world impact. As the presence of social media sites in our lives increases, more social movements are finding their start and building momentum on these platforms. We wanted to see what events cause topics to trend on social media sites and see if the online activism translated into any real-world impacts.

For this project, we looked specifically at climate-related Tweets in order to explore what kinds of events caused the relative number of these tweets to spike.
