Inspiration
We wanted to create a minimalistic weather extension for chrome that displays exactly what the weather is like in any city at the moment you load a website.
What it does
CliMate displays the current weather in the city of your choice with minimalistic but useful information.
How we built it
We walked through the chrome extension developer's manual and built this extension from scratch using Bootstrap, Javascript, jQuery, HTML/CSS, the OpenWeatherMap API, and Google Fonts.
Challenges we ran into
None of us have ever built a chrome extension, nor do we have very much experience with web development. We spent several hours just trying to make the pop-up display information from the API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have created our first chrome extension.
What we learned
We learned how to access data from an API and more about how to use Javascript & jQuery.
What's next for CliMate
We'd like to add more features, such as auto-location from another API.
