Inspiration
A personal experience as a hiring manager opened our eyes to a critical problem: losing an exceptional neurodivergent candidate simply because our employment contract wasn't accessible. With Deloitte research showing that 20% of the global population is neurodivergent, we realised this wasn't just a single incident – it was a systemic barrier to talent acquisition and economic inclusion.
What it does
Clarisign transforms complex contracts into accessible formats whilst maintaining legal validity. Using DocuSign's APIs and advanced machine learning, it offers:
Neurodivergent and dyslexic viewing modes Key information summaries 'Read it to me' text -to-speech Natural language Q&A about contract terms with tailored responses Easy Read guideline compliance Integrated DocuSign signing
How we built it
We developed an advanced machine-learning pipeline that extracts and analyses text from complex documents. Starting with DocuSign's APIs, we create a Docusign Envelope and at the same time extract the data out of the PDF to transform it for the signer. The platform follows Australian Easy Read Guidelines and offers customisable viewing options for different processing styles.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing accessibility with legal compliance Ensuring our AI-generated summaries maintain accuracy Creating an intuitive interface that works for diverse needs Developing accurate text extraction for complex contracts Maintaining document integrity whilst reformatting
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making the impossible, possible Created the first complete platform combining LLMs, National Easy Read principles, and DocuSign integration Developed multiple accessibility modes (neurodivergent, dyslexic) Built an interactive chat function following Easy Read guidelines Aligned with Australia's $43M National Autism Strategy Maintained legal validity whilst improving accessibility
What we learned
The "agreement trap" runs deeper than we imagined. What began as a single lost candidate revealed a global challenge: systemic barriers excluding talent worldwide. We discovered that true accessibility demands customisation - standardised solutions simply don't work. DocuSign's APIs proved transformative, enabling us to bridge the gap between accessibility and legal compliance. We cracked what seemed impossible: making complex legal documents accessible while maintaining their integrity. The solution wasn't just about technology - it was about reimagining how contracts could work for everyone.
Through Clarisign, we've proven that making the impossible possible isn't just ambitious thinking - it's achievable innovation that's opening doors for one in five people globally.
What's next for Clarisign
We're in early discussions with community and disability advocacy groups to understand how Clarisign can best support accessible documentation needs across different sectors. Our roadmap focuses on expanding accessibility: Advanced screen reader integration Voice-activated navigation Sign language visualisation|
Making the impossible possible
ClariSign is all about making the impossible possible. Here's how:
- It's about impact. We're unlocking access to a massive untapped talent pool - one in five people globally. That's not just good for , it's good for business.
- It's about technology that works. Our AI and DocuSign integration transforms complex documents instantly. No complications - just contracts that work for everyone.
- It's about smart design. We've created something that's powerful behind the scenes but simple to use. Every feature is built with both the business and the user in mind.
- And it's about innovation. While others offer partial solutions, we're the first to bring together AI, Easy Read principles, and DocuSign's infrastructure in one complete platform.
