We learned that waste is such a big problem in our communities, so we wanted to allow users to participate in community cleanups with incentives such as money and reputation. The idea came from producing a more dynamic method of informing the users The website acts as an interface between the online information gained about waste pollution and the users’ actions at community-wide pickups Allows for the inclusion of individuals and encourages action to be taken in the form of recognition Challenges we Faced:- Organizing and splitting parts of the project evenly in order to finish the project in the most efficient time-frame Also, the understanding syntax of various parts of the program, such as typescript & javascript Function/Purpose of Website:- Website that educates and initiates users to collect waste pollution in the community Information Taken from the User: Longitude and Latitude of the User with the Browser’s built-in Geolocation API The location used to identify pick-up regions (from closest to farthest away) and displays the #of required people for the location based on the area of pickup Initiative for Participating in Pickups: Recognition in the form of a leaderboard that showcases the top 5 participants of the community on the homepage Cashbacks or money rewards based on the plastic collected by the participants What we Learned:- We learned how to effectively manage and coordinate as a group, and ultimately produce decisive results Also learning about various syntax and coding properties of different languages Learning to research effectively and brainstorm to produce a proper idea
