Inspiration
Alyssa - My sister, Ciara, was trying to find a local beach clean up to volunteer for. She searched through numerous websites with my mom, but was unsuccessful and found the process very confusing and inaccessible.
What it does
Our app, CleanMarine, seeks to solve the issue posed above by centralizing all of the local beach clean ups and placing them on a map.
How we built it
We utilized the Django Webframework to design the front end and wrote webscrapers utilizing selenium, and SQL Lite.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges with the data not being registered into the database, slow webscraping performance and Google API integration oissues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of producing a final web product.
What we learned
We learned a new web framework as well as a numerous methods of scraping the web by getting the data and displaying the data.
What's next for Clean Marine
We plan to hopefully expand the featureset to pinpoint addresses and destination times.
