Inspiration

We were thinking about what are some of the frequent issues college students experience and came up with the idea that many times the descriptions for classes are very generic, and, especially for more niche classes, it can be very hard to find things online about the class and be able to make an informed decision about which classes to take the next semester.

What it does

Classy allows you to search different classes, read student reviews of said classes, see AI summaries of the reviews, and provides you with sample study materials based on the reviews, giving you a general picture of what a class entails before you register to take it.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenges were getting the search bar to work as we were having trouble making it do more than simply display the text on the dropdown bar, but actually have something meaningful behind that, and adding a way for users to create reviews.

What we learned

We definitely learned many more detailed features of React as well as some crucial skills as how to create a searchbar or a way to post items using it. We also learned how to use the Claude API and practiced our CSS skills to make websites aesthetically pleasing.
