Claro

Overview

Therefore, our team recently discovered a growing problem among today's up-and-coming professionals: a substantial decrease in their understanding and navigation of complicated documents. The younger generation often lacks the tools to extract what really matters from legal contracts, tax filings, or binding agreements. Claro will assist with that. Anyone can understand what they're signing, what they owe, and what risks they're taking on thanks to Claro, an AI-powered document intelligence platform.

Inspiration

My cousin stared at the contract, lost. One wrong signature could cost everything. But unknowingly and overwhelmed by all the complicated words, she signed it, not knowing the risks. The situation had her terrified when she knew the risks, but luckily she had no problems. This incident has come to our notice and has the creation of Claro.

What it does

Claro analyzes complex legal documents in seconds, extracting key terms, flagging risks, and delivering actionable insights powered by advanced AI.

How we built it

We built Claro using Next.js 14 and TypeScript for a fast, scalable frontend, styled with Tailwind CSS for a clean and intuitive UI. The backend is powered by Node.js, with PostgreSQL and Prisma managing our data layer. The platform is deployed live on Vercel.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was motivating the AI to reliably extract structured, reliable data from document formats, such as leases, tax returns, and legal contracts, each with its own layouts and language. We also had to carefully balance response time with analysis depth to ensure that users received fast results without sacrificing security or accuracy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

1 - Achieving a 98% accuracy rate on document analysis across diverse document types 2 - Creating an experience simple enough for someone with zero legal background to use confidently

What we learned

We discovered that creating human-like AI output is a greater challenge than simply developing AI. People need confidence and clarity, not just answers. Additionally, we discovered how important prompt engineering is when working with unstructured, real-world documents.

What's next for Claro

We're just getting started. Next steps include expanding support for more document types, introducing multi-document comparison, adding team collaboration features for legal professionals, and exploring integrations with tools like DocuSign and Google Drive.

Our goal is to make document intelligence accessible to everyone—not just those who can afford a lawyer.
