ClaimChecker Extension

Inspiration

Misinformation is running rampant and social media platforms are using fact checking services less and less

What it does

It uses both Google's fact check api and AI to jointly validate claims on the internet.

How we built it

We built it using Google Cloud Vision to parse text from images and send that text to either Google Fact Check API or ChatGPT to verify the claim.

Challenges we ran into

Google Fact Check API does not have many claims, so we had to add a AI failsafe for many claims.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our clean and seamless user interface

What we learned

None of us had made a Chrome extension before, so we were starting from scratch there.

What's next for ClaimChecker Extension

We plan to enhance the reliability of the fact-checking results by refining the sources used and improving the accuracy of claim verification.
