CityTrotter

Inspiration

The smart city track was something I was wanting to do because I wanted to contribute to society in some way or another.

What it does

It allows city planners to have a 3d visualization along with a dashboard explaining the overall impact of their development plan around the region.

How we built it

I built it using React.js for the frontend and FastAPI for the backend. I also used Mapbox GL JS for the interactive map and Gemini for the report summary.

Challenges we ran into

Trying to use actual datasets via API keys was challenging because the calls to the dataset was either very slow or complicated to setup or needed payment.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Have a working proof of concept with explainable mathematical calculations that would work with the integrated live data.

What we learned

Deployments are usually not very smooth but this time it was. I also learned to be very careful with working with API calls dealing with large datasets

What's next for CityTrotter

Expanding to basically every aspect of city development plan, like highway construction, extending MARTA lines or other metro lines, etc.
