Inspiration & Functionality

The easiest way to make a big difference is by making a lot of small differences. And the easiest way to make a lot of small steps is by combining small steps of multiple people. That’s why we want to motivate people to be more aware of the environmental impact of their actions. To do that we focussed on the decision process when buying products, which is often made in split seconds and on little to no information about the product. Our application is supposed to facilitate this process by providing information on the product in question and give a selection of more eco-friendly alternatives.

How We built it

After multiple intensive brainstorm sessions we developed a clear cut concept of the application and dove into data research. Once we had found various data bases that provided the necessary information and had spoken to data experts about our idea, we started visualizing a prototype and creating a presentation.

Challenges We ran into

Unfortunately our team was reshaped several times with people joining and leaving the group repeatedly, thus a lot of time was consumed. We ended up witout a single coder or programmer in our team.

Accomplishments that We are proud of

We still came up with a really good idea and managed to finish the outline our prototype.

What We learned

It is not about quantity but quality! Never give up! Done is better than perfect.

What's next for CIRC02_GreenNinja

We really loved being a part of this hackathon and getting to know all these great people and would love to continue on our journey to make the world a better place. We would like to continue making an impact on improving the environment and on enhancing circular economies. From the beginning we struggled with a lot of people coming and leaving our group, who seemed to be put off by our dedication to the project. But in the end we formed a very dynamic and efficient core team (like ninjas ;-) ) and we are very happy and proud of our results. We are a very good team and love working together, so we would love to stay in contact with you and continue working on circular economies, because we learned so many interesting things about data in this topic, that is not openly available. So would love to pursue this path further.
