Weather Man The idea came to Daniel when he was falling asleep the night before, trying to come up with ideas. We recently learned how to use weather APIs in a prior hack club meeting, so we thought it would be an interesting idea to incorporate it into a game. Drew had the idea of making a TTS engine, since our location would change depending on the weather. The story was brought to us when Daniel thought of making the protagonist some sort of weatherman, and Landon filled in the rest. The whole premise of the plot is the weather man gets the weather wrong, and a giant enemy spider gets upset and attempts to kill him. We ran into several challenges in this event, the main one being the timeframe, among several others. Limited to only 24 hours, our ability to fully debug had been severly limited. Not only was time an issue, but sharing code amongst members was a massive issue. Our game was built entirely on a hand-made engine, using Java Swing, which had several issues with it. Our game consisted of cutscenes, which were really hard to implement with Java, and took several hours of researching and writing code to utilize it.
