Inspiration
We were inspired by the immense guilt of staring down your fridge and warming the cool air, only to eat nothing in the end.
What it does
Our website scours the web for recipes from trusted sources that match your ingredient description.
How I built it
We used a React client-server with a Node.js private-server to interface with it. By doing so, the product can be easily scaled up in the future.
Challenges I ran into
Time was a big factor in this production as a lot of it was spent learning the technologies (this is the first React-Node.js project for both of us).
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud to have setup our own server solution with Google Cloud in order to take the harder but more customizable approach to hosting. We are happy to have made something of this scope with such a small and inexperienced team.
What I learned
There is always a need to aim for the minimum viable product. A team with their heads in the clouds, dreaming about all the cool features they can implement, will only face destruction. In the same vein, modularity is an important means to that end.
What's next for Chef's Hand
We hope to incorporate a database of users so that we may log eating habits and perhaps "game-ify" the app.
