Inspiration

I (Gage) am a sneaker reseller and am often forced to use apps like goat and stockx to sell my items as buyers are often concerned about authenticity. However this incurs shipping fees and authentication fees, so we wanted to make a peer to peer authentic items network with verification assistance as well as offering companies the tool to be able to issue authenticity guarantees on top of item scans.

What it does

It allows users to create a 3d scan of an item, or view an item they are about to buy in a hologram state so that future buyers/themselves are able to compare with a past scan to ensure the item was not replaced

How we built it

We built CheckYoSelf by utilizing iphones scanning tool, and 3d model files to be able to view as a hologram on phones or a rotatable object on a webpage. While utilizing pinata for fast file storage/retrieval

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues with tying users to the items they owned as well as attempting to implement the smart contracts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to implement item scanning as well as easily viewable holograms/rotating models of the objects on our phones/webpage

What we learned

We learned extensively with this project, both of us had never worked with blockchain before so it was a real learning experience with all of the different tools. We also learned how easy it could be to utilize Pinata for file storage and how to actually display 3d models on different devices.
