Inspiration
We like to travel a lot and we thought about how it always becomes a very long conversation to try to decide where everybody wants to go and deciding which one most people would like to go to. We wanted to make a way to skip that conversation entirely and just get to planning to trip as quickly as possible.
What it does
Our website takes a group of friends and collects information in order to allow the user to skip the step of having to figure out where you would like to travel to with your friends. A user selects what friends they are interested in going on a trip with and states what locations that they would be happy to go to, and compares all the location choices of the people selected in order to find a common destination between everyone where everyone ends content. This will be able to skip a long discussion with friends about where you want to go where someone could potentially end unhappy about the chosen destination.
How we built it
We used a flask backend and a react frontend and a SQLlight database.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges that we ran into was API integration as well as some debugging issues. We also had a couple issues connecting the frontend and backend but we got it done eventually.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the API integration and being able to say that we were able to complete our first hackathon projects and got it to function the way we wanted it to.
What we learned
During the course of this project we learned how to better use flask and just using APIs in general.
What's next for ChatConcierge
Next for ChatConcierge we can add a social aspect where you can develop your profile and potentially upload pictures of trips you went on inspired by the website, also meeting new people and finding new places you would want to go on.
