Inspiration
We were trying to come up with a practical and yet effective way to encourage people to change their habits to combat the growing threat of climate change. We realized that people are always using technology and so a relevant and enjoyable website would be a good way of getting the news out about how people can make individual changes to help the planet.
What it does
Eco-Check asks you to tell us about how you go about certain universal habits (commute, grocery-shopping, eating) and tells you what versions of these habits are the most climate-friendly. If you complete these habits, you will get access to stickers that you can share on social media about your accomplishments.
How I built it
We linked together various html pages that we stylized with css and ordered with javascript. We used repl.it for our IDE and used netlify to upload the site.
Challenges I ran into
We struggled with using javascript to create an order for the webpages
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This is our first hackathon.
What I learned
I've learned some CSS and JavaScript and also learned about the intense amount of work that goes into website making
What's next for Eco-Check
We would probably try to add user accounts and greater personalization to the checklists as well as new stickers for streaks and such
Built With
- css3
- html5
- javascript
- netlify
- repl
