Inspiration

Centipede drew inspiration from last year's Ripple CBDC Innovate challenge, aiming to build advanced CBDC and Fintech Solutions. We dug deep into banking issues, envisioning solutions fit for next-gen Fintech. Just like early giants like Google and PayPal, we see the vast potential of pioneering in the banking transformation, setting the stage for massive impact.

What it does

Centipede is an innovative Fintech Solution, uniquely positioned to drive the future of financial technologies. Our primary mission? To accelerate CBDC adoption for nations eager to modernize their monetary systems. With the XRP Ledger at its core, Centipede ensures swift cross-border payments, establishing it as the primary railway for global transactions. Moreover, we offer the vital software layers that financial institutions require, smoothing their transition into this revolutionary tech landscape.

How we built it

Centipede is designed using a blend of technologies. At its core, it's a web application built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We've integrated webGL to bring live environments straight to the browser, harnessing its immense potential. Our backend leans on Google Cloud, complemented by XRP Ledger integration, several libraries including Veriff for KYC.

Challenges we ran into

Our broad vision for Centipede meant tackling diverse hurdles. Fine-tuning AI models for both immediate and future needs was complex. Safeguarding private keys, especially during transaction sign-offs, posed its challenges. Crafting a fintech-grade secure yet user-friendly framework required careful thought. Plus, designing both retail and commercial accounts and their interplay demanded strategic planning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A year of dedication, research, and embracing tech has sculpted Centipede into a tool ready to help financial institutions step confidently into the CBDC era. The positive vibes from the community make us pride. Our team, always evolving and eyeing the bigger picture, is our backbone.

What we learned

Our journey has enriched our understanding of the financial sector, the inner workings of markets, and the road to a revamped future of finance. We've also glimpsed how tomorrow's business models can reshape the way money matters.

What's next for Centipede

Our focus remains on refining Centipede and joining forces with financial institutions. We aim to raise awareness about our platform's capabilities. After missing out on OMFIF last year, we're eager to engage with them and other finance service providers, ensuring Centipede aligns perfectly with the needs of financial institutions.

Latest Update: Elevating the Mobile Experience

We're excited to unveil significant enhancements to Centipede's mobile user experience. Our mission is to deliver a seamless, interactive, and dynamic application that excels across both desktop and mobile platforms. Leveraging the capabilities of WebGL, we've engineered a cutting-edge runtime environment directly within the browser. This enables us to harness the browser's computational power to execute features that were previously unattainable in traditional web applications.

The integration of WebGL technology also paves the way for the implementation of advanced AI and predictive models, right within the browser—both on mobile and desktop. This groundbreaking approach aligns perfectly with our long-term vision of establishing Centipede as a frontrunner in the Fintech industry.

Latest Update: Enhancing Transaction History through Advanced Search and Query Capabilities

Navigating the XRPL presents unique challenges, especially when it comes to tracking incoming transactions. While outgoing transactions are straightforward to log in our internal database, incoming transactions—particularly those originating outside the user's wallet—pose a more complex issue.

One conventional approach to this challenge is to require the user to create an invoice-like method beforehand, specifying a destination tag for the payee. However, this method has its limitations. For instance, if the invoice doesn't dictates the transaction amount, it becomes cumbersome to predetermine what the corresponding destination tag should be.

To address these limitations, we have introduced a reconciliation process. When a user logs into their account, our system automatically scans the XRPL ledger and cross-references it with our database. This procedure accomplishes two critical objectives:

Transaction Integrity: By examining the ledger, we can identify and incorporate any incoming transactions that may have previously gone unrecorded in our database.

Enhanced Security: This reconciliation step also serves as an additional layer of security. It ensures that all transactions, whether incoming or outgoing, are duly accounted for, thus eliminating the risk of unauthorized transactions going unnoticed.

Through this advanced search and query mechanism, we aim to provide a more secure and seamless user experience, effectively addressing the intricacies of transaction management on the XRPL.
