Inspiration

We noticed how often people forget what groceries they have, leading to food waste, overspending, and disorganization. We wanted to turn something simple and universal into a smarter way to manage everyday shopping and food habits.

What it does

Ceiptr is an AI-powered grocery tracking app that converts paper receipts into digital grocery lists and reminders. It automatically extracts and organizes product information, helping users track inventory, reduce waste, and make more intentional purchases.

How we built it

Using AWS Lambda, DynamoBD and AWS Textract, we were able to combine all of these services using react native to create our app.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was handling the variability in receipt formats and ensuring accurate text recognition across different stores. Integrating the data extraction with the user interface in a seamless way also required extensive testing and refinement.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud to have built a working prototype that transforms a physical receipt into a clean, interactive grocery list. Ceiptr’s ability to deliver useful, real-time insights from something as simple as a photo showcases the potential of practical AI applications.
