Inspiration

Navigating campus life can be overwhelming for students, faculty, and visitors alike. We wanted to create a tool that simplifies the experience, enhances productivity, and connects the campus community seamlessly. Thus, Hippocampus was born, inspired by the need for an all-in-one campus solution.

What it does

Hippocampus is a multi-campus app that caters to students, faculty, staff, and campus guests. It provides interactive maps for easy navigation, highlights popular spots, locates study areas, manages event ticketing, and streamlines maintenance requests. It’s your campus life—simplified. We used Figma to design a user-friendly, intuitive, and visually appealing interface. Every feature, from navigation to ticketing, was designed with accessibility and convenience in mind, ensuring Hippocampus serves as the ultimate campus companion.

Challenges we ran into

Mastering Figma while balancing functionality with aesthetics was a learning curve. Ensuring that all features such as color themes, user flow, and logo design met the diverse needs of campus users also required thoughtful design iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud that we were able to collaborate effectively to create an innovative app that integrates over seven unique features, along with a thoughtfully designed logo and app layout. This accomplishment is even more significant given our limited experience with Figma, demonstrating our ability to learn and grow as a team while bringing our creative vision to life. We are also proud of the designing and prototyping skills we have gained.

What we learned

Through this journey, we honed our design skills and learned how to create user-friendly and effective designs tailored to the needs of diverse campus users. We gained hands-on experience in prototyping, from crafting engaging animations to implementing various scrolling views and dropdown menus. This experience deepened our understanding of user-centric design and how to bring concepts to life in a visually appealing and functional way.

What's next for CBRE Prompt

We aim to transform this prototype into a fully functional app, expanding its features to include real-time updates, integration with campus systems, and personalized user experiences. In the future, we also envision adapting Hippocampus for real estate applications, leveraging its navigation and ticketing features to enhance property tours, maintenance requests, and community management.
