Inspiration
What inspired us was the classic rubber ducky debug method. So, we thought why not give it an update?
What it does
Using a cat as the base we made an application that allows users to essentially "pet a cat", virtually, because naturally a cat takes responsibility which just adds more stress. To give each cat uniqueness we created a scrollable hat menu for users to choose a hat to put on the cat hence the name Cat in the Hat. This cat will always stay on top of your screen just in case you need a companion to debug code with.
How we built it
We build this application in Java using the Java Swing for the Java GUI functionality.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we ran into was learning Java Swing for the first time and incorporating that into an actual working program. None of us have really done any front-end heavy development and this was quite the ride.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Although our application isn't the best designed and we didn't get to implement all the other functionality we had planned we are proud that we got to at least showcase something.
What's next for Cat in the Hat
Our goal is to make this "cat" as interactive as possible; with many unfinished ideas in mind we plan to continue implementing more features for our application.
